Did Fantastic Beasts disappoint Harry Potter fans? (1st blog for COMM1150)

As a fan of Harry Potter, I disagree with this article. It may leave some of Potter’s fans feeling disappointed with Fantastic Beasts but not all of them. Fantastic Beasts is the new journey that brings Potter’s fan back to a magical world. It’s a whole new story with new characters and some names that we can recognize from Harry Potter, like Albus Dumbledore, Newt Scamander and Nagini.
According to the article, they said that four main characters from fantastic beasts are perfectly categorized and don’t show their own identity that people have seen from characters in Harry Potter. However, I feel that their identity touches my heart and gets into their story. For example, Newt Scamandor also struggles with his career and actually, he is a really unique character that is obviously shown to the audience. I can’t say no when they call him a goofy guy, and you also can’t say that he’s not charming when he takes care of all the magical creatures. In Harry Potter, the main characters are from Gryffindor, but Newt is from Hufflepuff. Hogwarts divides all of their students by a ‘Hatstall’, which is a hat that can get into your mind. Students who are Gryffindor tend to be brave, Slytherins tend to be contrary, Ravenclaw tend to be smart and Hufflepuff tend to be kind. Newt is the best person that you can claim at the first impression who should be a Hufflepuff student. He is kind, but not only Gryffindors are brave. Newt showed that he’s kind and nice, but then he can be brave enough to protect someone he cares about.
The plot has many mysterious points that have given clues to the viewers, like the relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore and how Nagini becomes the horcrux of Voldemort. It’s like a reunion party of your high school, that all of your friends have changed because they just started their new way to live. It’s not disappointing because you also changed. It’s just a new journey in the magical world from J.K. Rowling.
Fantastic Beasts doesn’t have a full story book like Harry Potter. It starts with the tiny point from Harry Potter. The name of Newt Scamander was shown in the Harry Potter books as an author of the book that Hogwarts’ students use to study. Thinking about this reason, it is a fantastic movie that fulfills your dreams again. Harry Potter is my childhood dream, and now Fantastic Beasts brings another dream to me.
